Key Rules at triathlons

Running and walking only are allowed (Crawling a short distance is no longer allowed in the UK)

Barging and behaviour which interferes with another competitor is discouraged and may be penalised.

Numbers should be worn on the front for the run.

What sort of shoes?
Generally the key is that the shoes can be entered quickly and dont fall off!

Key things to consider:-

Heel tabs are useful to pull shoes on.

Elastic laces or lace locks save lots of time. However its important to get the tension right between being able to get a wet foot into the shoe, and having it too loose so they fall off, or cause blisters.

Socks are not normally worn as they take too long to put on, this needs to be considered when buying the shoe, seams can very easily rub and cause blisters or cuts..

Some competitors place lots of talc powder in their shoes, this is thought to help them to get them on and help reduce blister formation. It's a matter of choice.

Spikes are possible for many entirely grass courses, however, the shoes arent always the easiest to get into and impossible to cycle in so for that reason are not necessary as you would need to change between cycling and running.
