Safety Management Systems/ Procedures
One of the control measures to reduce risks is to have
an appropriate safety management system, setting out policies for reducing
risks and the procedures for managing it. We can help clients:-
• to produce safety
procedures in order to help them to comply with any health and safety
legislation
• by monitoring/
audit of compliance with the safety management system either by providing an
internal system for use by the clients own staff, or an external inspection
service, or a combination of both.
• to produce
training/ briefing materials to ensure that staff are aware of their roles in
parts in improving safety/health/environmental/ emergency standards. This
includes production of custom video material at reasonable costs – see
Training and Training Video links.
Examples of Policy
General Safety Policy, Stress
Policy, Emergency Planning Policy, Document Retention Policy
Procedures include:-
Full Safety Procedures Manual,
to COSHH, Permit to Work, Management of Change, Electrical Isolation, Planned
Inspection, Means of Access etc
Audits include:-
General compliance with Safety
Legislation, to topic specific eg COSHH, Portable electrical appliance testing
procedures, waste management
Identifying changes in legislation
We can provide clients with
regular briefing materials highlighting changes which will affect their
activities, and provide advice on how to comply, or provide advice on
responding to consultation documents. These can range from simple monthly lists
to more detailed briefing packs on one aspect.
An extension to this is to
provide a Safety/Emergency Research service
to provide the client either with the links to websites containing safety or
emergency information they need, or to provide copies of publicly available
downloads containing the information requested. This could include for example
best practices from US or
Risk Identification/ Risk Assessment/ Risk Control/ Risk Mitigation
We can provide advice on all
types of risk identification, and assessment, through to suggested methods of
controlling the risk, and mitigating the effects if the risk controls fail.
We believe that it is possible to do anything safely, so long as the
risks are identified and suitable control measures are in place. However, 100%
safety is rarely achievable for everything, so we can advise on best practices to
be put in place to reduce the effect of mishap.
Examples include
COSHH, Means of Access, Safe
Methods of Work (Method Statements), Construction, Chemical handling, etc
Franchise
We can assist the client to
identify weaknesses in current franchise safety/ emergency planning procedures
and performance and help them to develop cost effective measures to include in
franchise bid commitments.
We can also help by supporting
safety departments during the peak workloads of preparing bid applications and
preparing for the successful new franchise.
